Just like Mum

Hello, I hope everyone is feeling fine - even if the weather can't quite make up its mind!

I've just spent a lovely day with my little one - we went to the local animal sanctuary at Cotwell End Farm.  It was a derelict old place, and new owners have taken it on and are trying to renovate it.  Using money from visitors they are trying to restore the place, so I've decided to make some cards for them to sell in their shop as a donation towards the upkeep.  Watch this space for examples!

If anyone is local to Dudley (West Mids), its just outside Sedgley, and is worth a visit, they have lots  of animals that you can feed - some of which are rescue animals.  Harrison loved it and we will go again even if only to donate some more funds to them.

After the farm we baked 'Monsters Inc' blue cupcakes... blue food colouring and a two year old... maybe that part wasn't such a good idea!

Anyway on with the craft!  Another new creation, made with a crafters companion stamp.

I made this to enter the Sketch 'N' Stash challenge 119.

I printed off a pretty background paper, typing Happy Birthday in one corner to cut out as a sentiment.  I then matched it with lilac card for matting and layering and die cut a doily in the same card.

I stamped the image using memento ink and coloured with a combination of promarkers and spectrum noir pens, finishing with liquid pearls and glitter.  I die cut this shape with a round spellbinder die, layered it all up using ribbon and lace across the card, and roses and a flourish to finish.

Yellow Spotty Retro card

I made this to enter into the Friday Sketch Challenge number 49.

I was inspired by the adverts for the new Marc Jacob perfume - I saw these fabulous yellow and black spots on a cover at the entrance to Debenhams, and thought they would make an amazing background for a card.

I made this one using some free papers and stamps I got recently from a magazine - free stuff is always the best!  I love the retro feel of it.

I printed a sheet of black and yellow spotted paper (I designed it on craft artist 2), then inked the edges in distress ink before matting on black card.  I cut out the elements from a background paper, and stamped the lady onto white card, and a scrap of yellow and black to paper piece together for her swimming costume and bow, and decoupaged the bow on the costume for depth.  I then coloured her in using Spectrum noir markers. Finished off with a few gems as per the sketch - and another unique card has been finished!

As always - thank you for stopping by - if you haven't been here before I'd love you to join my Blog, if you have thanks for your continued support and comments - you keep me going!

I made the top 3!!

After four weeks of trying various different challenges - I've finally won top 3 on Friday sketch challenge! I was so excited to see my work picked by the DT.

I've made a few items this week.  These creations were for my Sister-in-laws' birthday.

I used my digi-scrapbook to make the butterfly card.  Then I cut out and layered elements to give dimension.  I also cut out an aperture for the picture to show through the frame.  Once assembled, I used my glue pen and glitter to make it sparkle.

Then for the card from my little boy, I made this card using country companions stamp.  I made my own background using one of the flower stamps in the set, versamark and some new Wow embossing powder I recently brought.  I then die cut the shape, matted and layered and added a printed sentiment.

I hope you like it - I'll update with my challenges in the next couple of days.

Thanks for stopping by!

Keeping it simple

I've made a lot of cards recently that have lots of layers and embellishments, but I do actually really like simple cards too.  I saw the challenge on one stop craft challenge blog, and thought I'd make and enter this. Id like to enter this into their #237 challenge

Again using my favourite stamp sets LoTV, I stamped then matted and layered.  The pink layer was coloured with promarkers to match the pink in the flowers this is a great tip if your struggling to find a match - make your own!.  The outer edge I digitally designed with an added sentiment and cut out as one piece.  I then added 3 mulberry flowers and a green bow...

Christmas in August!!

As with most crafters I have begun the Christmas card making, and this is my first card in preparation for the big day (well there are only 143 left you know!)

I want to enter this in the Papertake weekly challenge sketch free for all. I used Sketch #69

Using LoTV (I use these quite a lot!) I stamped and coloured with promarkers, added clear glitter with a glue pen and cut out using a spellbinders die.  I then made my own background by stamping and embossing the  using an holly stamp, stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with purple glittery powder.  Matted and layered.  I then used an embossing folder that has Chrsitmas/winter words on it for the middle panel, and cut out two of the words to use as the sentiment.

I then layered up, using card, ribbon and lace and finally mounted on a 6 x 6 scalloped card.

All I need to do now is make another 40 (ish) to hand out in 4 months time....

Oh and my other project this week was my new header and image for my new facebook page.... coming soon! All things purple and sparkly has a brand logo!!
